The food and wine were fantastic, and Jean Paul and his family looked after us wonderfully. Le Monastere felt just right: romantic, comfortable, warm, and peaceful without being too quiet. My wife and I had such a good time, we’ll definitely come back.

We had a phenomenal dinner at La Table as part of the weekend Gastronomique package. The hotel also has The Bistro, and breakfast was quite nice. In the room, a big countryside view came through the main window, and there was a similar view from the bathroom. I could happily have stayed in that shower longer just to enjoy it. The room was a good size, though the seemingly queen bed felt like an odd choice when there was room for a king. It was still super comfortable. Getting to the toilet meant going through the outer door into a small vestibule, then using three handles before reaching the sink to wash my hands. A little quirky, but nothing more. The hotel is a thoughtful renovation of an old monastery next to the town church, with a lovely courtyard for sitting in the sun with a glass of wine. It keeps the original character while adding modern touches for an elegant stay. We wish we’d stayed longer and will come back next time we’re in the area.

The family who run the property were so welcoming and attentive, and when we arrived early they kindly made us an outstanding charcuterie lunch. The restaurant food and menu were excellent, and the rooms have been fully redone and now have air conditioning. We also enjoyed lounging by the pool. It’s a quiet, restful place in a lovely setting and well worth visiting. One other thing: despite what another reviewer said, the two gay couples in our party didn’t experience any sense of what he described. This is one of the most exceptional places we’ve stayed.

We had a beautiful stay at Le Monastere de Saint-Mont, a gorgeous luxury property in a former monastery. Our spacious room looked out over the vineyard, and the pool and Spa were lovely. Both restaurants pleased us, but the fine dining at Le Table was as good as, or better than, some 3-Michelin starred restaurants we’ve tried on our travels. The family clearly cares about making guests comfortable and giving them a good experience. Thank you Béatrice & Jean-Paul Tossens. We only wish we could have stayed longer.

Beatrice & her team made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was simple and refined, with outstanding bread, and the wine list had plenty of fantastic local bottles, including reds from their own vineyard. There was also a fantastic armagnac collection to sample. The food was exceptional, on par with many 1-2 Michelin ⭐ restaurants. The rooms were spacious, airy, spotlessly clean, and smelled lovely from the big sandalwood diffusers. The grounds were beautiful, and it’s a great base for exploring the region’s vineyards and wineries. Quite possibly the finest boutique hotel I’ve ever set foot in!
