Café hôtel de l'Avenir

Getting in with the electronic codes was easy. The room was small but okay, and the bed and shower were fine. For the price, it was fair value for a local hotel, and I'd come again. It's close to the metro, a bakery, a bar, and local restaurants.

The location was convenient, with a McDonald's, cafes, and metro station nearby, so getting into the city center was easy. The area was quiet. It was disappointing that there was no reception, though, since we couldn't leave our things or get help right away. For an overnight stay the hotel was good. Our room was warm and clean, if a little small, and the dim lighting wasn't ideal. There was a kettle with paper cups but no tea or coffee, and our room had no hairdryer. Towels and basic shower gel were provided. Housekeeping regularly changed the bed linen and took out the trash.

We could leave our bags at the hotel bar, then grab dinner across the street, and the metro is right nearby. The room even had a view of the Sacré-Cœur, however you spell that white round church. The place could have been a bit cleaner, but we didn't mind some dust given how affordable it is for Paris. Great location and service. I'd stay here again.

The staff were cheerful and helpful, always greeting us with big smiles, and the pub downstairs was a nice spot for a nightcap. The location is excellent, right above Garibaldi metro. I would have given the room five stars, except we had to move after the first night because the ensuite toilet was faulty. We had to make do with a room where the toilet was outside.
