Mille Joies

Our girls, aged 5, 6, and 15, had a great time, and so did we. There’s lots to do on day trips, from the villages’ weekly fresh food markets to the caves of Toutoirac and mountain biking in the wooded hills. Back at Mille Joies, the pool is cleaned carefully every day and is lovely to swim in, with its low chlorine content. The gites are clean and tidy, and the kitchens have the appliances you need. Ronald and Thea have turned a beautiful old farmhouse into a welcoming holiday spot while keeping its authentic French countryside feel. The shared meals, held a few times a week for a fee, help create a nice atmosphere among the guests, and the hostess is a great cook. You can also order French baguettes and croissants for delivery by the host. The place itself is lovely and quiet, with a warm welcome, clean gites, and a well-kept pool with little chlorine. We stayed for two weeks, but we’re used to having a cottage to ourselves and missed the privacy. Since the four gites are connected, it’s easy to see onto one another’s terraces despite the wooden divider. The rules take some getting used to too. They’re probably needed, but they don’t make for a pleasant welcome.

There’s plenty to see nearby, and Mille Joies is a lovely place to relax, with a nice pool, a well-kept gite, and a beautiful view. Thea and Ronald are very friendly and hospitable owners.

The kids had a great time playing out on the field and swimming in the pool. It’s a lovely holiday spot, the gites are clean, and the people are welcoming. : )
