We stopped here for dinner while driving from Grenoble to Sisteron, and it was a real treat. The set menus cost a bit, but the food is creative and good enough to make the price feel fair. They also have a lovely range of drinks and wines. Go on, treat yourself.

The garden terrace was a lovely place to sit, cool and breezy even on a hot summer day, and the two young waiters were great. We stumbled on this little gem while heading north to Grenoble, and the fabulous meal at a reasonable price became one of the highlights of our four weeks in France. We hope to stay at the hotel next door another time, eat here again, and explore the area. Highly recommended!

Our room was very basic, but clean, and the beds were fine. The atmosphere was lovely, and we enjoyed the evening. Breakfast was more than enough. When we arrived later in the afternoon with our child, they told us the restaurant was fully booked, though it wasn't. They were friendly, so I guess they just don't like Germans ;-)

Update 2024: Au Sans Souci Hotel and Restaurant is still a great spot for a stay and dinner. The service was very kind, and we had a lovely meal of chicken, lamb, and trout. Every dish was a dream. The German saying "Wir haben gegessen wie Gott in Frankreich" sums it up best. The local beer from Clelles was really good too. We'll come back and recommend the accommodation and restaurant to our friends.

Ordering was an adventure, since I would have liked a menu in English or German, but Erika helped me manage everything in English. The people were very polite, and I had a nice time. I ended up with a four-course menu, which was nice, and I'd never had one before 😂. It's a nice place for motorcycle riders to stay, with lovely twisty roads in the area for the next day.
