We celebrated my grandmother’s birthday over lunch, and it felt like a family gathering. Everything was homemade with care and a bit of originality, from the infused rum and fritters to the palm heart salad, wood-fired duck stew and roast pork with taro, then sweet potato cake and candied papaya. The hosts made us feel very welcome. I’d happily recommend this guesthouse.

Mireille’s vanilla and honey duck is what I’ll remember most, it was delicious. I was here for a two-week work assignment, and the cottage was comfortable for self-catering. The owners were also very attentive to their guests. A great place to stay.

Mimi and Guillem made us feel cared for. Their Creole cooking, when you get to share it at their table, really brings out the proud spirit of Reunion Island. We’re grateful from the bottom of our hearts.

Mimie’s cooking is excellent, and there are several kinds of honey to try, each one better than the last. The owners really do their best to look after you. This is just my personal opinion, but I’d recommend the place to locals and visitors alike.

We spent a whole month at La Carriole and would gladly come back. The restaurant’s farm produce and local specialties were a treat, and the owners generously shared their knowledge, know-how, and fruit with us. Mimi and Guilherme were kind and welcoming. Our spacious cottage had comfortable bedding and air conditioning, with a peaceful view of dragon fruit fields and the sea in the distance.
