The pool was fabulous, and there were plenty of loungers, though a couple more would have been useful. The accommodation was great, with lots of garden furniture and a large table outside. We arrived on a Sunday when most shops were closed, so I’d asked whether food could be delivered. There was a fantastic selection waiting for us, which we really appreciated, and I paid for it when we arrived. The setting was beautiful and so peaceful, and we had a fab holiday. Just be ready for midgies and mozzies. The nearest lake couldn’t be fished, and the second one was quite hard to get to. We’d planned a BBQ, but the barbecue was disgusting, so we tried to clean it and ended up improvising.

I’m grateful to the owners for opening the estate to visitors over the summer. The guided castle tour was really interesting, and being able to choose from three walking trails through the park made it even better. It’s a lovely way to get a feel for the place.

We spent two nights at the estate, which gave us a glimpse of the work involved in maintaining a castle. The family clearly takes that responsibility seriously and does it very well. The estate’s size seems to help make the finances work, while tourism also plays a big part. That makes the quality of service from the owners all the more understandable. A real taste of the high life!

The owners are passionate and looked after us so well. This is a large, beautiful estate, close to Limoges but also surrounded by nature. Our two-night stay was very relaxing, and everything was perfect.
