Campanile Smart Lyon Est - Eurexpo Bron Aviation

Alfred the robot was the trip’s highlight. You can order items from the vending machine through the hotel app, and he brings them to your room. You’ll get a text when he’s outside, though if you don’t answer quickly, he’ll trundle off in a huff. Breakfast was excellent, with great quality and plenty to choose from, in a lovely room. The hotel still looks new, and the location is handy for the motorways, with supermarkets that sell petrol and restaurants a short drive away. Staff at check-in were welcoming and efficient, and the public areas and rooms were spotless. The room was bright, airy, and spacious. Chromecast to the TV actually worked, which was a nice bonus. We only stayed one night, but it was wonderful, and we’ll look to stay again.

The price was amazing for such a high-quality hotel, and the staff were nice. The location worked really well for us since we had a rental car and were driving to the airport to fly home. I’d recommend it.

The free secure parking was handy, and the hotel was clean. The reception ladies were welcoming and friendly, and the fast lift was a plus. We were given a room for a disabled guest, which was a little odd, but it worked for us. We didn’t try the robot delivery and aren’t sure whether it was working. We also tried the pizza place on the hotel grounds at night, but it wasn’t very good. Even the Margarita had gorgonzola, which made it taste strange.

The shower had good pressure and plenty of warm or hot water, and the hotel smelled nice and was very clean. We chose this higher class hotel after staying in budget places last year, and it was the right call for a good night’s sleep while passing through Lyon on the way south. It costs more, but it’s cleaner, more modern, and in a safer area than the places we’d stayed before. With budget hotels, I guess you get what you pay for. The SMART features were fun, especially the robot butler for room service, which the kids enjoyed, and the wireless charger built into the bedside table. One of those chargers was broken, though. Breakfast was simple but good, with enough choice and decent coffee. No photos this time.
