Logis Hôtel Auberge de la Xaintrie

We came here because the Auberge in St Julien down the road was closed. Lunch wasn't cheap or quick, and the dining felt semi-formal, but the food was delicious. It was very nice, though not inexpensive.

⚠️ Ownership changed in November. The breakfast was stale or frozen, despite there being excellent bakeries nearby. The food was disappointing, mostly frozen, and the menu didn't offer much choice. Prices felt far above what the place delivered. My advice is to avoid it. The manager seems to be the only person working there. He spends more time on the phone with his wife or preparing candlelit dinners than looking after guests. In my opinion, the hotel could go bankrupt before it loses its stars. It received its 3 stars on March 3, 2025, and they are renewed every five years. Maybe the new owner isn't trying to take advantage of the situation. In reply to management: there's no doubt I stayed at your hotel. The booking wasn't under my name, but I was told about the ownership change when I arrived. Even locals no longer want to eat at your restaurant. It's unfair to keep providing such low-quality service when you have a 3-star rating and customers paying for much better than what I've described. I invite you to visit the premises and see for yourself, since apparently you don't know what's really going on there.

We came as a couple for one night through a Smartbox offer, during the quiet period before the holidays. The manager gave us a really warm welcome. Every restaurant in St. Privat was shut, and so was the hotel restaurant, but he simply prepared us an excellent, very generous dinner that evening. The room was fine, if a little dated, and the bedding was excellent. Breakfast was a lovely buffet too. Highly recommended if you want to enjoy the charm of this region.
