Les Roches Rouges, a Beaumier hotel

I came for a short work trip and found somewhere that feels tucked away, almost like a lovely secret. The team were friendly, thoughtful, and fantastic, and the modern, spacious rooms had amazing views. The food was delicious, every bite better than the last. The enormous pools and picturesque sundeck made it hard to leave. You can swim in the sea or relax by the pool. It feels luxurious without being pretentious, and I want to come back.

The seaview deluxe rooms were stunning, and we spent hours enjoying the balconies. The views took our breath away as soon as we arrived. We had an amazing four-night stay, and the breakfast was honestly the best I've had at a hotel, with an exceptional range of choices and really good eggs and omelettes. The coffee, though, was never good. The pool area was great, and we enjoyed the paddle boards, kayaks, snorkels, and other equipment. Staff were always on hand to help. The gym was small but had great equipment, was always clean, and had plenty of towels and water. We'd seen negative reviews of the restaurant and almost skipped it, but dinner was actually very good. The tomato salad and truffle linguine were both great, and that dinner service was excellent. Service elsewhere was hit and miss, with some staff trying exceptionally hard and others less so. Still a 5 star stay, and we can't wait to return.

The views were exceptional, and both the pool and beach area were great, with plenty of loungers and towels. It was a beautiful hotel and location, with a relaxed, easygoing feel. Service was why I took off a star. At $1000 a night in peak season, I expected it to go above and beyond, but it didn't even meet standards. I'd read several reviews saying the same before our stay. Staff sometimes ignored us, and didn't even greet us when we walked into a restaurant. I don't know if that's just French service culture, but better staff training and attention to service could make this a true 5 star hotel.

The valet was incredibly friendly when we drove up, and the concierge had our room ready early. From that first moment, this was an incredible stay. The staff were accommodating, warm, and went out of their way to make it memorable. My wife asked on a whim about snorkeling, and the concierge found an option for us. They also made our dog feel very welcome. I liked having wristbands as room keys so there was no key to lose. The Wi-Fi was fantastic, which made working during our holiday easy. Drinks were exceptional, the food was high quality, and the pool area was outstanding, with attendants who also went above and beyond. We'll definitely be back.
