Hôtel Golf Saint Saens

A clean room and welcoming hosts made for a lovely evening. We stopped here to break up the drive before taking the Tunnel back to England. It’s less than three hours from the Tunnel, so we got home at a reasonable time and could make the most of the holiday’s final day.

The owners were friendly and helpful both when I booked by phone and when we arrived. It’s a great stop on the way south after the chunnel. The grounds are lovely even if you don’t golf, and the setting is just far enough off the beaten track to feel peaceful. You can stay in the chateau, with smaller, romantic rooms in chateau style, or in the nearby two-story annexe in a converted barn, where the rooms are enormous, with sofas, seating areas and big bathrooms. The chateau also has a formal dining room, with a different table and chair set at each table, plus a bar and games room. There’s a lovely terrace where dinner is served too.

There’s plenty of charm and character in the chateaux, and the rooms are spacious with modern bathrooms. The restaurant serves good food and fine wine, and there’s a nice bar, terrace and games room. I’d recommend staying in the main chateaux if you’d like a view over the golf course.

We’ve been coming to the Chateau to golf for ten years. The course is beautiful, the food is great, and the accommodation is kept very clean and tidy. The staff are friendly, and the grounds crew, cleaning ladies and bar staff work incredibly hard to make sure everyone has a great time. Long may it continue!
