The village itself is lovely and historic, but on a Sunday or Monday there isn’t much to do. For a bakery, regular shop, or cafe, you have to go to Dijon, about 20 km away. The hotel is dog friendly, which was a plus, though I’d only stay here for one night. The rooms felt quite old, and the staff weren’t friendly. We were told the pool closed at 6 pm, even though the website says 7. The next morning, while children were swimming, the pool vacuum was left running in the water. That didn’t feel safe or acceptable. The website makes the property look like a great place to relax, but you have to pay extra for everything, including the sauna and jacuzzi. Very overrated.

We came here as a stop during a long drive, and the staff made us feel very welcome. The food was delicious, and the courtyard was a lovely spot for a drink before dinner. Dinner took patience. Each course was slow to arrive, though everything was just right when it did. There were two large groups that may have held things up. Candles to brighten the restaurant and feather pillows would have made this a five-star stay for me. Some black tea in the rooms would also be nice for those of us who drink tea. I’d gladly visit again and recommend it if you’re nearby. Thanks to all the staff for being so welcoming.

I was told on my first call that the restaurant was closed on the day I wanted. Instead, after weeks of chasing them for details, they finally told me this just a week before the event. I had called every day and kept being assured there was no problem, even though they later said there had been a system glitch and my information was lost. I’d made an advance reservation for 14, which they said by phone was confirmed. They told me they’d send meal options and I’d need to pay half upfront. When a bill finally arrived, it didn’t say what it was for and had the wrong date. I asked for an explanation and pointed out the date error, and only then did they say they wouldn’t be open that day. I wasted over a month dealing with staff who were completely unprofessional and unreliable.

The food was sublime, with the kind of ambition you’d expect from a place aiming for an étoile. The restaurant and hotel both have a charming, authentic feel, and the staff were very friendly. We had some tricky dinner timing requests because we have a small child, and they handled them without any trouble. Great service. I’d definitely recommend it.

If you speak English and want very fine dining at an affordable price, this is the place. I’m French and live overseas, but this spot feels first class. The food, pastry, and service were all exceptional. It’s absolutely a Michelin star restaurant in the making, and the whole dining experience was perfect.
