The peaceful garden and the feeling of being welcomed into a family home made this stay special. Noel and Lyndsey were delightful, sharing their home and adorable dogs with us. The old house is thoughtfully furnished, and the grounds have a lovely cottage feel, with fruit trees, a vegetable patch, tucked-away spots and places to sit. Even the beans served at dinner came from the garden. Our spacious, rustic room was well equipped, with a comfortable bed and a strong hot shower. Breakfast and the set dinners with local wine were delicious. Looking back, the welcome, service, room and sense of space and calm were all among the best we could imagine while travelling in France.

We’ve stayed at Chez Brown several times, and I’ve only just got around to writing a review. Noel and Lindsey are wonderful hosts, thoughtful about the little things and happy to help with even small requests. Breakfast is great, and there’s also a boulangerie up the road with plenty of baked goods. There’s a pool at the house for cooling off after a day out, and nearby you’ll find a go-kart track for kids and a village tennis court. I’ve heard Noel is a good player, so I’ll have to challenge him next time. The roads are great for cycling, much more cycle-friendly than in the UK. Chez Brown is about an hour from Bordeaux, with an easy drive through lovely French towns. It’s a beautiful, rustic escape in an idyllic village. You really can’t go wrong staying here.

I spent five days here on a yoga retreat and already want to come back. Lindsay’s food was delicious, and the hosts made me feel so welcome. I could use the gardens and facilities freely, and they were happy to help with anything. I’d highly recommend a visit.

About an hour from Bordeaux, this is a lovely chance to experience the French countryside. Noel and Lindsay were great hosts, and everything was absolutely clean and in order. Breakfast was healthy and friendly, and sitting in the garden was a treat. You mates are ace ♠♥
