Maison Jolie

The location is good, but little else worked for us. The rooms felt dated and cramped, the bed was uncomfortable, and the bath only had a handheld shower, no shower head. I have no idea how French people manage showers like that, or maybe they don’t. Breakfast was awful: literally a piece of bread, butter, and some industrial fruit compote. Calling that a “Continental Breakfast” is an insult to other continental breakfasts.

For around 220 euros a night, this was the cheapest place we found in pricey Saint-Tropez. The room was large, clean, spacious, and had a stocked minibar. I especially appreciated being on the ground floor, with no stairs to climb. The three-star hotel is right across from Place des Lices, where the farmers' market runs on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and nightlife is close by. The harbor, shops, restaurants, bars, and beach are all within walking distance. The woman who handled check-in and check-out was very kind, and still treated us well even though we checked out 30 minutes late. Thanks for the good service.

The place is beautiful, but they ignore Americans and treat us like shit. I’d definitely skip it.

The owner was welcoming, and after stopping by for a rosé in the lovely garden, I’d consider staying here. The garden is open to the public as well as hotel guests, yet it feels peaceful even though it’s right in the middle of St Tropez, just off Place de Lices. Drinks cost half as much as at the bars overlooking the square, and the setting is much prettier and more idyllic.
