Maisons de Tatihou, The Originals Relais

My 10-year-old son wanted to eat after we visited the tower and lovely garden. It was just before noon, so I figured we had time before our 2pm boat back to the mainland. The restaurant was empty apart from a table where staff were eating. A nice young man said it wasn't open yet, then checked a book and told us to come back at 1:30. That seemed strange with the place empty, but we couldn't wait that long. We asked if we could at least have a drink on the empty outdoor terrace, and were told no, they only serve food, not drinks. Luckily, we caught the 12:15 boat back to the mainland and had a lovely meal and drinks at café brasserie Le Détour instead. What a shame.

We had lunch yesterday. The menu was simple, the food fresh and tasty, and the value was very good. The staff were great and happy to offer advice. We'll come again!

Les Maisons de Tatihou was peaceful and just a few steps from the sea and harbour, with a great location. The rooms were comfortable, nicely decorated, and well equipped, and breakfast featured delicious local and homemade food. Everyone was warm and attentive, always available with suggestions for things to do or places to eat and stay. We had a wonderful time in this charming, authentic place. It was a real haven for recharging, and we'll definitely return.

The restaurant menu was the one slight letdown, as it felt expensive for what you get. Otherwise, the staff were attentive and very friendly, and the rooms were excellent: clean, comfortable beds, and beautiful decor. I highly recommend this very unique place.
