L'Esprit des Vignes

Virginie and Olivier were so welcoming and knew the area well. Their place was comfortable, and from its hilltop position we had amazing views over the vineyards. On a clear day, you might even spot Mont Blanc in the distance. Breakfast was delicious too, with a choice of homemade jams. Highly recommended.

We loved cycling on the quiet little roads through the lovely countryside around this B&B. There are also nearby villages with well preserved historic centres, castles and churches dating back to the 12th century, and Cluny Abbey is 30 km away. St. Amour, close by, makes very good wine. The terrace had a gorgeous view towards Mont Blanc, about 150 km away. Our room felt new, was tastefully decorated and perfectly clean. Breakfast included homemade products, and Virginie and Olivier were very welcoming and gave us useful tips on restaurants, wineries and places to visit. This was a beautiful discovery among the vineyards.

We were lucky to spend a day with Virginie as our guide, learning about local history and tasting excellent wines from producers who are harder to find. Back at the lovingly restored farm, we could relax among the scenery and watch the goats. It’s a lovely base for exploring Beaujolais and southern Burgundy, whether you’re there for wine or just a quiet break. The room and fresh, homemade breakfast had everything we needed. Virginie and Olivier have made a special place among the Beaujolais vineyards. We’re already talking about returning and staying longer in this less traveled part of the region.

Our children were delighted by the goats and chickens in the garden, and the rooms made us feel at home right away. They’re decorated with a lot of care and taste. We stayed in winter, with snow over the vineyards, and Virginie was warm, attentive and a joy to meet. She made us an excellent dinner and a delicious breakfast too.
