La Ferme du Port d'Enveaux - Le Gîte

We loved it here. The food was great and the service was just as good.

The restaurant and bar right next door served delicious food, and we had a lovely evening there. Breakfast set us up well for the day, too. Our room was spacious, with its own bathroom and toilet, and the nights were quiet and peaceful. We had a wonderful stay beside the Dordogne, with excellent service throughout. I highly recommend this place.

The peaceful setting is lovely, and the Dordogne was very clean. Even in peak season it wasn't crowded, and there was plenty of parking. We could check in earlier than expected, and there are activities and a snack bar. The price seemed fair for what was available. The downstairs rooms have a nice terrace with a parasol. The reception needs a lot of work. The manager seemed in a bad mood and was impolite, didn't wear a mask, and handed over the key in a rushed, very brief way. Card payments aren't accepted. Breakfast costs €6, which felt too high for a glass of orange juice, a hot drink, one croissant per person, three small pieces of stale bread, and shop-bought jam. It was all put out before we arrived, so the butter had melted and the juice was warm, with little sense of freshness. We had to eat inside because the outdoor terrace wasn't available. Our room was somewhere between clean and dirty. The furniture is old, there were cobwebs, the shower head leaked, and the toilet brush was rusty. You can hear the shower and footsteps from upstairs because there's no soundproofing. Mosquito repellents would help, since the heat makes it hard to keep the windows closed and the mosquitoes spoiled our nights. We got one towel for two people. The beds were made on the second day, but no fresh towels were left. The place itself has an idyllic setting, but the managers aren't making the most of it when it comes to hospitality and amenities.

We had a fantastic time, and the food was both delicious and very affordable. The owners were so welcoming and lovely. It was a wonderful discovery in a setting that's pleasant and a little different. I highly recommend it.
