Greet Hotel Angouleme Ouest

We booked a room at this hotel through Booking.com, but accidentally selected the wrong date. We had paid in advance in good faith, and the stay was a year away with plenty of rooms still available on the date we wanted. We thought moving the booking, perhaps for a reasonable admin fee, would be manageable. Instead, a few days after we first requested the date change on Booking.com, we got a message saying the hotel had declined it. When we called Greet Hotel Angoulême, they blamed Booking.com. We forwarded the message clearly showing that Greet Hotel Angoulême had refused, and only then did they admit it was because we'd booked a prepaid rate. I could understand if the hotel were full on our preferred date, but it wasn't. Charging a reasonable amount to handle the change would have been fine too. But lying to customers and showing so little flexibility is enough for me to say avoid this place at all costs. There are undoubtedly other nearby hotels that understand customer service and flexibility.

The room was basic, but it had everything I needed. Being right by the highway makes it convenient to reach while traveling. The doors use keycards, which is much easier than fumbling with a key in the dark.

We came for a funeral this time, but we'd love to return. Thank you all for being so kind. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always greeting us with a smile. The rooms are accessible for disabled guests, clean and comfortable, with a great power shower. It's easy to find, close to Angouleme, and parking is simple. Breakfast had loads of fresh choices, and the evening meals were lovely when we ate at the hotel.

This is a classic motel, a bit older but in a good way, with character. The bed was comfortable, the shower hot, and everything clean. We stayed here again on our drive from Netherlands to San Sebastian because our first visit had been so good, and this time was even better. The staff are 10/10 amazing. They were patient with my bad French, even though they spoke English perfectly, and Claire, who checked us in and helped with the menu, spoke quite a bit of Dutch too. She was a sparkling ray of sunshine. Dinner and drinks were great, and the motel's close to the highway.
