The region is beautiful, but this hotel stay was awful. The room had no air conditioning, and the fan kept stopping, so I had to restart it every ten minutes. The bathroom ventilation wasn't working either. Opening the windows for air meant getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. Worst of all, the receptionist came into my room without knocking or asking. When I wanted an explanation, she didn't even apologize. I felt there was no respect for privacy at all. A three-star hotel? I don't think so. I've never seen anything like it, and for all the wrong reasons.

A handy place for a stopover. The renovated rooms are nice, with clean, modern bathrooms, and the woman at reception was pleasant. It wasn't too expensive, and parking on the street outside is free. There's no air conditioning, just a fan in the room. The square is a short walk if you turn left out of the hotel. There are a couple of cafes and restaurants there, and you can get breakfast since the bakery and cafe open early. The village itself felt a bit like a ghost town, but the hotel was good.

We were the only guests there in March, so it was very quiet. The woman was helpful and breakfast was OK. It's a nice old building, and although the room was small, it had been fitted out recently.

For a taste of Bordeaux at a reasonable price, this place is a real find. It's a family-run traditional hotel tucked into the center of a regional village, between Saint Emilion and Bergerac. Saint Emilion is about 20 minutes away, Castillion 15, and Bergerac 20. The street outside is small but can be busy, and there's one of France's best patisseries a block away. In the morning, you can pick up breakfast there and take it to a cafe in the square, which is perfectly welcome. The regional market starts a block away and runs every Saturday morning year-round. It's considered a top 100 market in France and is a must-do. The hotel's restaurant is currently closed, though there are several OK to very good places to eat within easy walking distance. Street parking is free, and covered parking at the hotel costs a few Euros. Rooms are large with high ceilings and full bathrooms. You shower in the tub, rather than in an American-style shower. There's not a big staff, and it isn't the place for a sterile, modern Novotel-style hotel.

Really nice place, with lovely people looking after it.
