La Batellerie Cottage & Villa

My wife booked this place. I thought it looked great, but also almost too good to be true. We ended up loving it, and I'd happily consider coming back. I think our children would be annoyed if we didn't! The owners are a warm, helpful couple. We felt welcome straight away, and they gave us tips on where and when to visit the local market and where to eat. The place is beautiful, and it took our breath away when we arrived. They showed us the off-road parking and helped with our bags. They have a dog whose bark is worse than her bite. The kids were nervous at first because she's big, but soon got used to her. Now I'm waiting for them to pester me for a dog. If you don't like dogs, the owners will keep her away. We were told about a river beach a short walk away, or an even shorter drive. The kids loved it, especially with a park nearby. We weren't keen on the pool, so the river was even better for us. The swimming area is marked and has a lifeguard, and there's another park at the top of the beach. The available DVDs were great, and the kids could watch TV when they needed something to do at the end of the day. We used the kitchen a lot, and having a dishwasher meant the kids didn't break anything. Eating outside was lovely, especially with live music on the Quay twice. The kids enjoyed the garden vines and trying sun-warmed grapes for the first time. Fiji came around looking for food, but behaved well and just looked at us sadly. If you're eating outside, try Le8.

Beautiful place and wonderful hosts. I'd recommend it without hesitation.
