La Maison des Graves

A charming, quiet place. The cottage was very clean, nicely equipped, and tastefully decorated, and our hostess welcomed us so warmly.

The house and room really are charming. The meals were quite decent, and the little touches were lovely, like homemade jams, delicious pastries, and a good bottle of wine. Still, a few things put us off. There were cobwebs, including a huge one in the bathroom, with little spiders here and there. One even joined me in the shower. There was also an old piece of chewing gum abandoned on a bedside table. The owner came to see us the next morning while we were hoping to have a quiet breakfast. The intention was surely kind, but when we book an Airbnb, we want some peace, at least we do. It would have been better to welcome us in the evening instead of coming by while we were eating breakfast and getting ready to leave. Thanks again.

We stayed here using a Smartbox gift voucher. It's a peaceful location, about 20 minutes from Saint-Émilion, and the host is very kind. The accommodation was clean and had several amenities. Dinner and breakfast were simple, but good.

We left after only 20 minutes, so our first family getaway turned into a three-hour drive and a €150 B&B booking we never used. We had come with a Smartbox voucher as a birthday gift, just a month after our son was born, and had reserved a night with dinner and breakfast. The food was a can of Toulouse cassoulet made with pork, which I can't eat, along with packets of Tuc crackers and store-brand cookies. The owner hadn't asked about dietary needs or mentioned the meal, and when we asked if there was an alternative, she politely told us to eat elsewhere. Her manner had already been unpleasant when she learned our baby was coming, and it got worse when we arrived. She offered no information about the area, and we got little after having to ask repeatedly. We found the whole experience disrespectful and disappointing. We hope Smartbox removes this host from its listings, and we'll complain to customer service. Paying €150 for 20 minutes is unthinkable.
