Guest House - La Clé d'Alsace

Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines is a lovely little mining town, and this guest house is a real gem. We had a wonderful stay during the Mineral and Gem Show and were treated to amazing hospitality.

The garden was a peaceful spot to spend time in, and breakfast was fresh and generous, prepared by the hostess. Our room was spacious and very clean. The hosts were so kind and always around when we needed them. We'll keep their address for our next trip to the area, and you can book here with confidence.

We stopped in by bike and loved the house's old fashioned character. It's been restored with care and sits right in the center of Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines. Our room looked onto the courtyard, where there was comfortable seating, and from there we could wander into the large, park-like garden. There are lovely spots in both sun and shade beneath the old trees, plus several places to sit and relax. At our request, Lysbeth and her husband served us a wonderful dinner. They were excellent hosts, spoke perfect German, and patiently answered our questions about the house and the area. Breakfast was so abundant we couldn't manage it all: baguette, croissant, bread, cheese, sausage, eggs, jam, muesli, yogurt, fruit, coffee, juice, and more. The breakfast room and our own room both had charming antique furniture, and there was a tea-making setup in our room too. There was just one small drawback. The kitchen where breakfast was prepared is next to our room, and with such an extensive spread, there was naturally some advance preparation. The sounds were ordinary kitchen noises, not loud, but we could hear them in the room. Otherwise we had no complaints, and we'd happily return if we get the chance.
