B&B HOTEL SAINT-JEAN de Maurienne

We used this hotel for a two-day ski trip. It's down in the valley and within a 30-minute drive of several ski stations, so you can take short trips instead of booking a whole week away.

The breakfast was far better than I expected for what we paid. The hotel was priced low and delivered about what you'd expect for that price. An unusual heat wave hit this part of the outs, so having climate-controlled rooms was a relief.

The location is really convenient, parking was easy, and reception were pleasant and efficient. But this is the worst B&B I've stayed in from this group. The rooms are exceptionally small and have NO bathroom. The washbasin is in the bedroom, and the shower cubicle is like one on a cross-channel ferry, with a bad smell. The bed takes up so much space there's less than 12" between it and the wall on one side. Breakfast was more limited than at other B&B hotels I've stayed in. After the owner's reply: There wasn't an open reception when I arrived, so I couldn't ask for a larger room. And about hiding behind a keyboard, I welcome ANY official from B&B to meet me near my home in France at any time to talk face to face. I find your response most unprofessional.

Open the window at night and the smell of freshly baked pastries will wake you up. A nice way to start the day! The hotel is clean, good value, and in a wonderful spot for cycling, and I imagine skiing too. Breakfast has a good selection, though some fresh fruit would've been appreciated.
