The pool and its surroundings were lovely, and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The apartments are a short walk downhill into town. Inside, ours was well equipped but badly in need of updating, and the air conditioning could be better. The small balcony had no table and looked out over an overgrown garden, with no view.

The pool was a lovely experience, and we used it most days. The village is brilliantly close, so we'd definitely return. We stayed in a two-bedroom apartment that was very spacious and clean, though a little dated. Sadly, our particular apartment had no view at all, which was disappointing.

The walk into Sainte Maxine centre takes about 10 minutes, but coming back means going uphill, so it may not suit anyone with limited mobility. The pool area is lovely for families, with smaller children's pools and a little water slide. There weren't enough sunbeds or umbrellas, though. Whenever we went, all the sunbeds were taken. Apartment 50 was bright, very clean and roomy for our group of six. It has three bedrooms, two shower rooms and toilets, a large lounge and dining area, plus an outdoor terrace with a table, chairs and sun umbrella. The kitchen had a dishwasher, microwave, hob and kettle, and the utensils, dishes and pans were in almost new condition. One shower was blocked on arrival, but the maintenance man fixed the drainage promptly after we reported it. Air conditioning was the main drawback. There was just one unit in the lounge, and the bedrooms got too hot for a good night's sleep. An iron and ironing board in the apartment would also be handy.

The terrace is a really nice place to sit, and the tuna tataki was delicious. I liked it less on the bed of vegetables, and the sweet sauce wasn't to my taste either. There were no carbs with it. Prices are on the high side, though that's partly the upscale setting. To me, the cost seemed to reflect the location and ingredient quality more than the chef's work.
