Gite Du Mas Bardouine

The setting is beautiful and the decor tasteful, but a rather erratic welcome took some of the pleasure out of our weekend. Breakfast was a big disappointment, with very basic products of low quality. At €100 a night, I'd expect better.

It's a beautiful spot, with evocative surrounding nature, and a typical Provençal farmhouse. The lady running it is very kind and helpful. But the breakfast is very basic, hygiene is lacking, and the place is so run-down that getting there without a car is difficult.

You'll be closer to the animals here, with brighter stars overhead, and even a summer thunderstorm can turn into a memorable experience. This is a beautiful rural spot and truly unique in the area, with an old farmhouse charmingly renovated in a rustic style. The warm, welcoming woman who runs it takes loving care of her guests. Reaching the peaceful natural surroundings takes some determination: the access road is about 10 km and unpaved, so expect either mud or a lot of dust. That rough journey sets the mood for the rustic accommodation. If you're after nature and a special experience, this could be the place for you.

The owner is very kind and helpful, and the location in the Camargue Natural Park is picturesque. There's no air conditioning, though, and that would make guests more comfortable on hot, humid summer days.
