Sure Hotel by Best Western Saintes

The room smelled very damp when we walked in, and the toilet smelled disgusting. The shower fitting that holds the tap was broken, so water ended up all over the bathroom and stayed there until the next day. The terrace door was broken in two because the old lock had jammed. We were told to find our room in a second building, through a coded door and along a dark path. Apparently only one person was working, and they weren't very friendly. Not a nice experience.

The rooms are clean and well furnished, and I even had a ground-floor balcony. It's conveniently located and cheap, though €8 per night for the sig felt a little expensive. I'd definitely stay again.

It's a little dated, but clean, with nice staff. There's beer in the lobby :-) The bed is good for the price, and breakfast is great. The stairs to the first floor are by reception.

They charged me almost 100 euros by mistake and refused to refund it. I felt they took advantage of me being a foreigner. The guy acted as if he couldn't speak English when misleading me, then suddenly managed to speak it two minutes later when explaining why he wouldn't return the money. This hotel needs a lot of care.
