We were there for about five minutes before deciding to leave, but still had to pay 130 euros. The hotel wasn’t fully booked, which made the situation even harder to understand. The room and hotel had the strongest smell of cigarettes and sewage I’ve ever encountered. At the desk, the woman tried to be kind and said I might be sensitive to the spray they use to improve the smell. Funny, really. I ended up at Zugno, which was much better. This is the first bad review I’ve ever posted. I’ve already contacted some friends in the industry to see if they can take this further. A shame. There are other stories about check-in I’ll spare you. I wouldn’t recommend the place at all.

The Thermes visit was a very disappointing part of our stay. We’d booked the room and spa sessions together two months ahead for a romantic weekend, but on arrival we found ourselves among 60 people, and our sessions weren’t scheduled at the same time despite being booked together. The Thermes felt quite ordinary, not the small-scale luxury we’d expected for the price. The hotel itself looks nice and is well maintained, and the staff were capable and helpful. Still, the room was quite small for what we paid. The bathroom doorknob was broken, and the previous guest had left with the key, which didn’t feel reassuring, though that wasn’t entirely the hotel’s fault. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The food was absolutely excellent, and the service was exemplary. We’d first come by for drinks a few times with a young friend who uses a wheelchair. The welcome was so warm that the three of us decided to come back for a meal. The manager deserves a special mention for the care they showed us both on those drinks visits and during dinner. We’ll definitely return!
