Our stay was thoroughly unpleasant, and we left without even having a slice of bread and jam or a coffee. Breakfast was very basic, with no pastries or brioche. The hostess had a doctor's appointment at 8:30 am, so we had to get up in time to eat before she left, or risk finding nothing left. We arrived with a Wonderbox gift voucher, but if you get there before 6 pm, they won't let you in, even though someone is inside. We were given slippers that looked well worn by many people to climb the wooden stairs. The small attic room had dated decor, no TV, and just one wall behind the head of the bed, with the shower and toilet behind it and no door, so there was no privacy. There was no hot water when we showered that evening. I complained to the hostess, but the shower was cold again in the morning. My advice is to avoid this place.

The village of Salives has a lot of history, and Dijon is only 40 minutes away if you fancy a city visit. We loved our weekend, so the average rating of 3.1/5 is puzzling. We stayed two nights at Le Puits Fortifié. The owner took care of everything, from our room and meals to the welcome. She was helpful, shared the area's history, and gave us useful advice. She also prepared all our meals herself, from start to finish. We enjoyed chatting with the other guests, playing board games, and sharing meals in a cheerful atmosphere. The room is simple, and the wallpaper and furniture are a little dated. There's no TV, but that didn't bother us. Breakfast was simple and good: homemade bread and brioche, homemade jams, and butter and milk from the farm. The evening menu was €27.90 for starter, main course, and dessert, with drinks extra. A bit pricey, but we had a lovely evening and don't regret it 🙂

This was my first time staying in a bed and breakfast, and we look forward to coming back. Don't trust the reviews. The welcome was warm and pleasant, and the meals were delicious, made with fresh local ingredients. Everything was homemade, from the bread and brioche to the meals themselves, which came with a story. It was all prepared by one person, so things move slowly.
