We had great powder snow during the week of 15/2, even under grey skies, and the staff were courteous and helpful. Snowshoeing was available too, and Diego was a great guide. The rooms were quiet and cleaned daily, though most were far from the action, some very far. There's a large gym with some equipment, but I didn't try the spa or pool. The food and entertainment were average, below what I've experienced at some other Club Med resorts, such as Tignes last year. The week in Samoëns is still expensive. It was very busy, full and noisy during the school holiday. I'd avoid that period for a romantic getaway, but it could work well if you have small children to keep busy in safe hands. For teenagers, I'd say it's more borderline.

The views from Club Med Grand Massif really stay with you, and my kids are already talking about coming back. I was traveling alone with my two children, ages 6 and 8, for New Year's week, so an all-inclusive setup and good ski school mattered a lot. Club Med seemed like the strongest choice for that, and it worked out well. Their skis were ready in advance, transport was organized, and it was easy to build our days around skiing. Nicole taught their 1st etoile group, and they adored her and made a lot of progress over the week. The buffet had plenty of variety for different tastes and kinds of eaters. It was better than food I've had at some other 5-star resorts, though still not like eating at a local restaurant, which isn't really the expectation here. My kids loved it, and I was happy with it too. We had a great time. Thanks, Club Med Grand Massif!

The ski locker room was one of the best I've seen, with loads of space and warm boot heaters. Skiing with ESF instructors was available every day, and the skiing itself was superb. Staff were friendly, helpful, and worked incredibly hard. There was evening entertainment each day, a good choice of drinks and cocktails, a big themed buffet, and a lovely spa with pools, a jacuzzi, and classes. The bar and dining spaces are very large. My four-star rating is down to the buffet. The chefs were cooking, but food was often put out on plates instead of served fresh, and we often found it cold. The meat was really tough too. The ice cream line for the kids was always huge, making the dessert area a nuisance when it got so crowded. It would be easy to improve that by sending the queue in the other direction. Still, it's a super place, the service was faultless, and the skiing was great.

We only booked four days of skiing, but I could easily have stayed longer. The French Alps views from this resort are stunning, and the rooms, food, facilities, staff, and entertainment were all wonderful. The Clubmed Team, led by Mr. Lacoste, were friendly and always ready to help. A perfect getaway in every way, and definitely somewhere I'd return to in the coming years.

Avoid this spa. We booked a gentle, relaxing massage and were told that was what we would get, but instead received a cosmetic treatment with nothing to do with a massage. It felt like a clear bait and switch about the treatment. When we raised it, the Spa Manager took no responsibility, refused a refund, and didn't offer a replacement or any other compensation. It felt like they took our money and turned their backs on us. I contacted management three times and nobody followed up or showed interest in the complaint. You have to chase them just to get a basic response. The indifference and dismissiveness extended from the spa to the hotel lobby and management. The lack of professionalism starts at the top and carries through. This was the worst service I've experienced, and the whole visit was a disaster. Unprofessional, misleading, and with no customer service. Save your money and your sanity, and go somewhere else.
