Camping Paradis des Dombes

The restaurant was a real highlight, with great food and a lovely, attentive owner. We had a relaxing stay, and liked being able to pick our own spacious pitch. It's very much in the middle of nowhere, and the swimming pool is tiny, but it still did the job and cooled us down.

The owners were so kind and welcoming, and the barman turned out to be a great singer too. On 17th of august 2024, my brother and I escaped the rain in the Jura and ended up at this nice campsite near Lyon, in a beautiful lake district. They invited us to a live music evening at the restaurant, and it became such a memorable night, with great music and singing along. There are lots of different options at the campsite, and we found a lovely secluded spot at the back with a view of a lake. Watch out for mosquitoes, especially in the restaurant, so bring repellent or wear long sleeves and trousers. If we're in the area again, we'll definitely come back for a draught beer with Picon.

We slept like babies, with no traffic noise at all, and we're still here for another week. It's a quiet, rural, park-like setting, with spacious plots for vans, RVs and tents, plus bungalows. The little pool is sparkling and refreshing, and there's a large playground for small children. Hot showers and hot water for washing dishes, but bring your own toilet paper. The unisex toilets are VERY clean. The reception is welcoming and friendly, and gave us tips for walks and sightseeing. The restaurant serves local dishes, and the bar service is friendly. Shops are about 8 kms away, and there are cycling roads nearby. WiFi is free, though it only works near reception. It's quite an affordable little campground. Dogs are allowed, but please keep them on a leash. Not every dog wants to play with your puppy, and their owners can't control your dog when it runs up. Thank you!

We'll definitely come back to this lovely, quiet campsite overlooking a fishing lake. The sanitation is dated, though clean.
