We’d only meant to stop for a drink after walking over to L’Etape with our dog from the nearby campsite, but we were glad we stayed for dinner. My husband’s double-patty burger came topped with a whole mozzarella ball, with dressed salad and fries, and was delicious, especially for €18. I had the bavette on the waiter’s recommendation, with salad, fries, and peppercorn sauce. Also delicious, and €18. We shared a house-made chocolate mousse, had two large beers and three glasses of lovely Pinot noir, with sourdough bread on the side. The bill was €78, and we left €90 including a tip. Our waiter was from England and spoke great English. A 10/10 experience, and we’d definitely come back if we return to Santenay.

We’ve stopped here for lunch a couple of times on bike rides and have been pleasantly surprised each visit. It’s the only casual place in the village where we feel comfortable dropping in wearing our cycling gear. The vegetarian burger was really good, the roast chicken was perfect, and the chèvre salad was wonderful. We’ll be back. A great informal stop, and you won’t be disappointed.

We came in for a quick drink and left very happily fed and watered, though we didn’t stay overnight. The service and food were first class. My burger was outstanding and cooked perfectly, and the house-made chocolate mousse was just as good. Thanks for making our short visit to Santenay memorable for all the right reasons 👍🏼

The breakfast bread was out of this world, good enough on its own to make me want to return. The hotel is a great place for tourists in charming Santenay, with clean, comfortable rooms and good beds. It’s no frills, but that suited us.

Daniel, the headwaiter, made the stay nice with his unusual knowledge and experience of Burgundy wines and haute cuisine. The hotel is simple but good, and absolutely enough for a one-night stay. Thank you.
