B&B Hotel Orléans Nord Saran

Getting there was easy, and the hotel was comfortable and clean. Everything was well kept and simple to find your way around. The staff were friendly, professional, and ready to help, which made the stay a positive one.

My room was clean and quiet, and the facilities were fine. I would stay again, but the tax charge at check-in left me puzzled. I'd booked and paid online in advance, yet the polite staff member said I owed €1.70 for hotel tax. When I said it was already paid, he accepted that without checking. I saw another two guests asked for the same amount by a different staff member. Why collect it separately when it's part of the booking? I wondered whether asking 20 to 25 people a day might bring in extra cash, since many would simply pay. I've never been asked for this at another B&B hotel, so be aware. If he'd said he needed €1.70 for bread, I would gladly have handed it over.

The staff were very nice and helpful, and there's evening restaurant service, a large car park, and a set of Tesla superchargers. It makes a handy overnight stop on the way to southern France or Spain. The B&B used to be an ibis hotel and seems to have had only a quick paint job before the change of brand. The bathrooms still feel dated. On the plus side, the lovely, comfortable ibis Sweet beds are still there. Breakfast has less choice now, and boiled eggs are no longer offered.

Handy spot near the motorway, and it felt safe. A simple, clean little hotel with a great breakfast.
