The Originals City, Hôtel Orléans Nord

The area felt really unsafe, and the whole stay was a bad experience. You could hear everyone in every room because there was no sound isolation. The room was cold and covered in rust, and the bathroom was cold too, with nowhere to put your things. There was only a limited amount of hot water in the shower. When I was about to sleep, I found a big bug on the bed. I wouldn’t recommend it. There’s no way this is a 3 star hotel, 2 stars at most!

It’s in an ideal spot for travelling north or south through France, and breakfast was okay, with the usual continental options plus a little scrambled egg and bacon. Reception seems to close around 21:30, so I’m not sure what you’re meant to do if you arrive later. The standard double room was small, and the bathroom was even smaller. The photos make the hotel look much better than it is. They also charged extra for a baby cot.

We stayed just one night, from 22:00 to 07:30, and the room was okay for that. The beds were alright, the bathroom had been renovated and was okay, and there was a small kettle with instant coffee and tea bags. Coming from the A10 at night, it wasn’t immediately clear where the parking lot, hotel, or reception were, but we found them. There was mold in a corner of the ceiling above one of the single beds. The bathroom had only three towels for five people, and there was no toilet seat. We were told the previous guest had taken it and that the hotel staff couldn’t get a replacement because of the holiday. I might have overlooked that if the toilet had been very clean, but the bathroom wasn’t clean and there was hair. My ten year old was utterly disgusted by the room.

Great value for money, with a clean, warm room and good bedding.
