It’s a quiet spot, and the owners are pleasant and helpful. This is a traditional Basque house that’s been in the same family since the 17th century. Our room was great, with a comfortable bed and a proper bathroom. Breakfast included coffee, orange juice, homemade bread, jams, yoghurt and a chocolate roll.

Alain gave us invaluable advice and lovely ideas for exploring this Basque region, with all its culture and history. The room, bedding and cleanliness were perfect, and the welcome felt genuinely warm. Each morning brought homemade bread and jams, hand-pressed sheep’s cheese and a different cake, such a treat. The house is a magnificent, typical Basque place by a peaceful river, very close to Sare and its caves.

We had a lovely first bed and breakfast experience, and it was a pleasure to spend time here. The breakfast Alain prepared each morning was delicious, and he always had great recommendations. We also made some nice acquaintances among the other guests. It’s ideally placed for climbing La Rhune and visiting the Sare caves, and the stay was calm and relaxing.

The setting was idyllic, and our room was beautifully decorated and clean. Homemade breakfasts were excellent, and Alain’s sightseeing tips were top-notch. I also really enjoyed hearing about the region’s history over breakfast. Thank you for being so welcoming. If we’re back in the area, we’ll definitely stay with you again. Please don’t change a thing, everything was perfect.

Just five minutes by car from the centre of Sare and its restaurants, the cottage is a beautiful, peaceful house. There’s an outdoor area overlooking a little stream, a lovely place to unwind. The bedrooms are comfortable and very clean, and guests can use a fridge and microwave. The hosts are incredibly generous, and it’s a wonderful place to share special moments.
