La Maison d'Albusse

Noel and Jana made us feel at home from the moment we arrived, even helping with our bags. The hotel is historic and beautifully decorated, and just a short walk from everything, so we had a great time in Sarlat. We enjoyed sharing a few wines with other guests in the lovely lounge too. Breakfast was easily the best we’ve had in France, by quite a margin. We had a great two-night stay and will definitely come back. Justin and Laura.

Jana and Noel were thoughtful, helpful hosts throughout our week in Sarlat. They anticipated what we might need and offered useful suggestions whenever we had questions. The room was roomy and comfortable, and we slept well. Breakfast each morning was fresh, generous and tasty. There’s also a cosy lounge downstairs with tea and coffee facilities. We’d had some great places to stay during two months in the UK and France, but La Lanterne was easily the best of the trip. We heartily recommend their bed and breakfast if you’re planning time in Sarlat.

The people who run this house are what made our stay special. They gave us helpful ideas for places to eat and visit, and when we were worried about getting a COVID test before flying back to the US, they booked us an appointment at a pharmacy. The house itself is historic, with restored rooms around a pleasant courtyard, just up the hill from the old church. It’s easy to reach, and free parking is a three to four minute walk away. La Lanterne worked perfectly for exploring Sarlat and as a base for nearby towns in the Dordogn. We’ll definitely stay here again when we return to the Dordogn.

We really enjoyed our stay at La Lanterne. The breakfasts were filling, the rooms were comfortable, and Ian and Jayne were glad to suggest restaurants and make dinner reservations. Their restaurant recommendations were all excellent for me. It’s a four-room bed and breakfast in a building from the 16th century, and the innkeepers put a lot of care into making guests feel pampered and excited about their stay. The location is ideal for exploring Sarlat and the surrounding area.
