Cool!

The manor house and fountain look out over this pretty little square. There's a small statue of three geese here, too. If you have the energy, come early in the morning. With fewer people around, you can enjoy the place much more.
We came across the three geese by chance, and they're such a lovely little sight 😇🪿🪿🪿. The goose is a symbol of the Périgord, much like walnut oil 👍. We even spotted postcards of the statue in a souvenir shop.
The statue was created in 1997, after an earlier idea for a whole cart full of geese was judged too imposing. François-Xavier Lalanne instead made a more modest sculpture, now standing proudly in the middle of the small square, which has a panoramic view over the city. It was given to the city by the Rougies foie gras company and is estimated to be worth between €100,000 and €150,000. Most visitors seem to climb onto one goose's back for a photo.
I find it regrettable to connect a work of art with foie gras production, an industry that promotes animal cruelty. The three geese are certainly beautiful, but that association bothers me.
