Château de Sissi

We had a lovely room and the shower was very good. Breakfast the next morning was excellent. The château is beautiful and close to the coast, though we were a little let down by the dégustation menu. The French dishes could have been more creative and complex, the cheese selection was very limited, and dessert felt a bit simple.

The château looks clean and lovely from the outside, but the interior could use improvement if they want to attract more guests. The room had a strong paint smell, so I had to leave the windows open for a long time to air it out. The quilt cover was not very clean either, with obvious dark spots. Wi-Fi was quite weak, and I was disconnected from the outside world much of the time. There was a large staircase in the small room, which could be easy to fall down in the evening and hurt yourself. Breakfast was also pretty basic, with few choices. 😀

Breakfast was great, while dinner at the restaurant was just OK and not really up to par. The château has been turned into a hotel and is nicely decorated. Just be aware the top floor rooms are much smaller than the ones one floor down.

We stopped in for a good coffee and enjoyed the sunshine. It’s a very nice, peaceful place, and both the hotel and the surrounding area are lovely. If you’re a Sissi fan, this is somewhere you should visit.
