We slept well in our large room, and the area was wonderfully quiet. The owners had just become parents again, so they were limiting the number of guests and offering less service than usual. The bar was open, though the restaurant was closed for dinner. We found a nearby restaurant with friendly service, then enjoyed breakfast here, including homemade jam and eggs. A nice place to spend a night while hiking in the area.

The room and the view were lovely, but the meal itself was a real letdown. My 93-year-old mother had been looking forward to a family meal with her grandson and his friend, and at her age this meant a lot to her. The two hanger steaks my parents ordered were so tough and rubbery they were inedible, and about two-thirds were left on the plates. When I asked whether they could have something else, the waitress said that was normal for that cut of meat. She then changed my mother's knife, saying the knife was the problem, not the meat. When the bill came, I asked for a small goodwill gesture, just a coffee, and she replied, “I don't see why.” That's quite a way to handle customers. The dining room and setting are beautiful, but the rest needs work.

A large, peaceful room, a lovely play area for children, and plenty of free parking. The staff were attentive, and breakfast was excellent. A magnificent place in a bucolic setting!
