The room was a makeshift space, with patched-together walls and furniture that was dirty and looked bad. The bed was broken, and I had to fix it on the first night. Everything felt old, worn out, and smelly, even the ping pong room. Our room had no balcony, just a door opening toward the parking area behind the hotel. We paid €86 for the night, which was far too much for what we got. The breakfast issue started at check-in: we had paid for it, but they said we hadn’t. After about five minutes of checking, they let us have breakfast after all. It wasn’t very good, with the same food every day and no vegetables. I don’t recommend this hotel. If you have no other option, you could stay here, but for that price you can find somewhere better. It feels overpriced and, I think, barely a hotel anymore.

The building looks good, the staff are really friendly, and the free WiFi is fairly fast. The rooms are old, though still okay to stay in. The food wasn’t good, although after a day of mountain biking it was acceptable. Breakfast wasn’t great either, and everything is old. I wouldn’t really recommend it. It’s too old to be enjoyable. Gerardmer, the biggest nearby town, offers better access to ski slopes, mountain bike trails, and hiking spots, and the lake is really nice in summer. I’ve seen places that were much worse, but also many that were much, much better.

The staff were nice, though they didn’t understand much English. The pool looked clean, but the place itself was old, and the shower and bathroom were dirty and nasty. It wasn’t worth what we paid.

It was okay.

The setting really is beautiful, but the place feels like a trip back to the 70s or 80s, as if nothing has changed. It must have been high-end once, but the upkeep is catastrophic, and housekeeping is extremely basic. The price and quality don’t match at all. It feels like being charged Maserati money for a Dacia, and arriving somewhere in 1975 😂. The pool was at 20°C, which is far from the cozy, cocooning stay you’d expect after paying for decent service. If you book, don’t tell your children or partner they’re going to a comfortable holiday haven. Just point out the magnificent surroundings of a place that seems to have given up on everything. If it were budget-friendly, I’d give it 3 stars.
