The manager gave us a friendly, polite welcome. It’s a small hotel near the center of Saumur, and our room, though small, was clean and functional, with a comfortable bed and a nice river view. Mornings were a little noisy, with people heading to breakfast and stomping up the stairs. I’d use it again if I were spending time in Saumur.

Simple and inexpensive, with great staff. It’s close to the bridge and therefore the town, where there are lots of nice restaurants. You can park on the street right outside, or use the hotel garage if that’s full, for 5€ a day. Nice.

We knew in advance there were no lifts, but nobody mentioned how steep the climb to the first floor felt, or that getting to the second would need oxygen like a trip to Everest base camp. They were slow getting the tables and chairs outside. Still, the staff were nice and cheerful, and our two-night stay was fine.

For a quieter stay, I’d choose one of the less expensive rooms without a river view. The location is very convenient for the town centre.
