Le C Gourmand

This was a horrible experience, and I would avoid the hotel. The staff were very unfriendly, the bed was tiny and hard, and the white wine was warm. I asked for medium steak in French, but it came cremated. There weren't even fresh glasses for our red wine, which cost €30 a bottle. The woman serving never checked whether our meals were alright and disappeared. I had to wait until she cleared the table to complain. I offered to pay for just one of the burnt steaks, but then Frederico, wearing chef's black, kicked off and threatened to call the police. I was forced to pay the whole bill. Only after I said happy customers mattered more than €20 did he grudgingly offer us a drink on the house. These people don't care about their guests. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

The staff were very pleasant, and the village is charming. When we got there at 1730 the hotel was locked, so I phoned a staff member, who arrived about 15 minutes later. The room was OK. Breakfast was 8 Euros each, and amounted to a few pastries in a basket and coffee.

We arrived early, but one of the staff let us in soon and showed us to our room. It had been modernised and was a little small, but still great value. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent. I'm still raving about the delicious snails baked in Camembert. My husband's cold meats came with lovely bread, and there was enough to serve two. The main courses were excellent too, as was the creme brûlée for dessert. We had pre-dinner drinks and a bottle of wine, and the entire meal cost exactly the same as the OK meal we had the next night at a chain hotel. Great value again. We've already booked to stay here on our return trip in two weeks.

We stopped here for our last meal on the way home. Really French, lol, and awesome. The food was amazing, and all the staff were young but very friendly. A really nice end to our holiday.
