Hôtel Beauregard, The Originals Relais

Customer service, at least, was great. The rooms were tiny, really only big enough for one small person, and the tin roof meant every raindrop could be heard. We paid a little extra for a lake view, but the place looked nothing like the pictures on booking.com.

We mostly used the sauna and hot tub, though the pool looked amazing, and the spa and other facilities were lovely. The location was great too. But we were shocked by how the staff treated us. They were rude and uninterested, walking right past while we waited and ignoring us. Drinks were overpriced, 14€ for an apple juice and a capuccino. The staff clearly need proper training in customer care and to learn to smile.

We had the most wonderful Irish wedding here. The owners, staff, and facilities were exceptional, and the food was fantastic all weekend. The rooms and view are gorgeous too. I couldn't recommend this hotel more, and we'll definitely be back. A must visit. Joanne & Kieran

During the week we managed to get a sun bed by the pool, and the whole place felt much calmer. At weekends, though, the new pool area fills up with day visitors, leaving no room for hotel guests. The restaurant has the feel of a high-end beach club, with DJs and poolside day beds for €40. We were told they were all reserved when we asked to use one. The pool seemed full of influencers visiting for the day. It can feel as if the hotel is just an add-on to the beach club. The location is the undeniable advantage: just outside town, right on the lake, with stunning views. But the “superior” room was a huge disappointment, shoebox-sized with an aging bathroom. It felt like a glorified ibis. I'd only return if I booked a privilege room with a balcony. I'd like the hotel to stop making guests feel like unwanted additions to the bougie beach club and include day bed reservations in the room rate. It's a shame the pool has such a different vibe, though they must be making a lot of money to hopefully reinvest in the aging hotel.
