Hôtel de la Citadelle

We enjoyed the restaurant, the service, and the scenic atmosphere. The rooms are a decent size, and the views are great, which I think is mostly what you’re paying for. The rate seemed very good for the location and service. Just note that parking depends on availability, and the only public parking is in front of the hotel, which isn’t very convenient.

The room was roomy, though a little worn and without much of a view. There wasn’t secure parking for the motorbike.

This is about the restaurant, as I didn’t stay at the hotel. We were two adults with three kids looking for dinner. An older man greeted us very rudely. The table we were about to take was reserved, as were more than five others. He offered us a table for four. When I pointed out that there were five of us, he told me to find another chair and plates somewhere else. I suspect he dislikes people who don’t speak French, since he treated the French-speaking guests completely differently.

We didn’t stay overnight, so I can’t rate the rooms, but the hotel restaurant is well worth a short break. The staff were kind and helpful, and the terrace is lovely, with a great view straight over the river and the famous rocks. There are a few parking spaces behind or in front of the hotel. We really liked it :)
