Hôtel de La Plage

The room was nice, with a great view, though the air conditioning barely did the job. We stayed one night on a surf trip and had a good session after finding our own waves. When we asked for local surf advice, the staff member laughed and said “everywhere” in a pretty condescending way. We knew there were several spots; we wanted some guidance based on the tides and conditions. The sound from the bar and little town square below carried into the room until around 1 or 2am. Parking is available onsite, but there are only about 6-8 spaces, and the gate to the private lot closes at 10pm. After that, street parking is hard to find. The hotel entrance also closes at 8pm, and guests need a code to get in. At check-in, the staff member gave me the password on the back of the key as the door code. I read it back to check, and only then did they realize it was wrong. Since we got back at 9:45pm, we could have been locked out for the night if I hadn't checked. The poor service was the main reason for my 2-star rating.

Breakfast with a view of the sunlit ocean was a lovely way to start the day, whether you sat inside or out. They served a great cappuccino and a fresh breakfast with croissants, boiled eggs, freshly made orange juice (or apple, pineapple, whatever you fancy), sugar bread, yoghurt and more. The staff were super friendly, and the bed was great too. It all felt like waking up in paradise. The hotel is in a laid-back surf village where people head out to relax or catch waves, and we'd love to come back.

We had a lovely two-day stay by the sea. The staff were friendly and attentive from the moment we arrived through to departure, and even though we spoke very little French, they put us at ease. Thank you!

The people working here really made the stay. Elodie, Alex, and everyone else were fun, kind, and helpful. They made us feel like friends without being intrusive. And PeeWee is a legend, top-notch cat. I came from the US to surf and hoped my wife, who doesn't surf and is a hesitant traveler, would enjoy it too. The hotel made that easy. We stayed in the Chambre de Amour suite, one of the rooms named after surf spots. It was roomy and comfortable, with everything we needed, including a tea kettle and Nespresso. The ocean view from both the bed and the jacuzzi tub was beautiful. When the retractable sun-shade stopped working, they quickly brought blackout shades so we could sleep while it was being repaired.
