Hotel Restaurant Mondoloni

We stop here every morning for a good Illy coffee. The lady and gentleman are incredibly kind and always greet us with a smile.

The polite welcome was the only good part of our one-night stop before taking the ferry to Bonifacio. As tourists passing through, we were looking for an affordable hotel, but it felt very basic for the high price. The room was plain, and we had doubts about its cleanliness, with dust under the bed and mold in the bathroom. The shower curtain was dirty too, and there was no air conditioning. We had to leave the windows open, so the neighbor's chicken coop woke us at 4 a.m. Noise was a problem throughout the stay: doors slammed and echoed in the hallways, with suitcases rolling by, while other guests had loud TVs and shouted. The parking area at the back has no surface and is hard to reach with luggage. I understand the location near Porto-Vecchio helps explain the price, but a 2-star hotel should meet a basic standard. We were very disappointed and wouldn't recommend it.

We only meant to stop for a quick beer, but stayed for three hours. The people running the place are so warm, and the Corsican welcome is incredible. Do stop by and get to know them!

Jean-Paul welcomed us and gave us excellent advice. The pizzas are fantastic too. A lovely taste of Corsica at its purest, highly recommend.
