Camping Mussonville

The touring pitches have decent space, good grass and well-kept hedges, though there aren't many since the site clearly focuses on mobile homes. The location is good, about a 15-minute walk to town and 20 minutes to the dog-friendly beach. We also saw plenty of wildlife, with hedgehogs visiting nightly and a toad. Laundry facilities were adequate for a campsite. We didn't use the restaurant, which looked empty and closed early, or the children's facilities. There are no water filling or grey water emptying points anywhere on the site. We stayed five days in our motorhome and had to use bottled water. The 6A power tripped a few times, so we couldn't run a kettle and hairdryer together, but the fuse box was accessible and we could reset it ourselves. The toilets are mixed gender, with no seats, urinals, toilet paper or hooks. Because they're low and difficult to aim into, there was urine all over them. The showers are very dated and unclean. The mop disappeared from the shower block on the second day, and it got even dirtier. Water temperature was unpredictable, either boiling or freezing. The same happened at the washing-up sinks, which are a good size but sometimes too hot. One leaked, leaving the floor constantly wet.

The campsite restaurant and bar were good, and the place was nice and clean with enough space.
