The bike path to the salt-water lake at Soutons Plage was the highlight for us, with its beach, restaurants, playground, and water sports. Staff were excellent, and the entertainment was very good. The campsite is lovely and set among the trees, with plenty of space between cabins. With no cars, it feels very safe. The cabins are well equipped, though the Wi-Fi was poor. There are good facilities on site and nearby, but the pools could be bigger and have a couple of slides for kids. We visited in late June, and it was calm and lovely.

I booked two weeks but had to leave after just one night because the mobile home was full of mould and I could hardly breathe. The sheets were damp from the humidity. The manager wouldn’t offer a suitable alternative or try to find a solution, and I didn’t get my money back. With every other park in the region fully booked, I had to drive home. That was 2,800 km for one terrible night’s sleep. Never again. The inside of the luxury mobile home was disgusting, as the photos show. The park itself was also in poor condition compared with the sunny marketing pictures on the website.

The staff were friendly, and the site is nice and pedestrian only, with no cars. But choose your cabin carefully. If it’s near the internal road, it can get very noisy: the trailers on the golf carts have no suspension, and they start running before 8am. The pools look larger in the photos than they are. Also, unlike at other Sandaya sites, the activities here are only in French, with no other languages.

The staff are really, really nice, and the place is generally very pretty and well looked after. It’s quite far from the beaches, though, so you’ll need a car or other transport. The pool photo gives a misleading impression, since the pools are quite small. The heating wasn’t working there one day, and we ran out of hot water in the bathrooms several times, which was a serious issue.
