We didn’t stay. We left as soon as we arrived, and the room had already been paid for, so we lost the money. The place was in an unacceptable state, close to fraud in my view. There was a ragged piece of paper on the front door telling us to pick a first-floor room, but nobody was there. The house was open and cold, with no heaters on. The rooms were dusty, full of dust bunnies, and smelled damp and unclean. The shower didn’t work, and neither did the central heating, though an electric space heater could be switched on. Breakfast for the next day was already packaged in the dining area, with nothing fresh. The cozy Boho look in the photos was really a dirty jumble of different fabrics. Everything felt damp, and the smell put us off even opening the beds. The pool was still full of green sludge. We didn’t contact the owner because things were so bad that feedback wouldn’t have made them fixable.

The rooms were dusty, the curtains dirty, and the whole house smelled musty and moldy. The bathrooms were especially bad, with such a strong mold smell that we couldn’t use them, particularly the showers. In our opinion, rooms in that condition shouldn’t be rented out. Getting to the first-floor rooms also means climbing an extremely steep staircase. That’s genuinely dangerous for children and anyone with mobility issues.

The location is great for exploring the Jura region, and breakfast was more than enough. The room had very unusual decor and was adequate. Overall, it was neither amazing nor terrible. We got a simple welcome note on the door and only saw our friendly host again at breakfast, which was a shame. There’s no TV in the room, just one in the shared area. The toilet is quite basic, so for anything more substantial, it’s better to use the one in the hallway.

Breakfast was absolutely fantastic, and the man who welcomed us was very friendly. It’s a stunning place, a large house with a swimming pool, though there are a few things that could be improved. The house and rooms are a little dated, which is fine in itself, but you have to hold the shower head while washing, and you stand on a sort of wooden platform in the shower. I personally didn’t find that very hygienic. A few bins in the garden would help guests dispose of rubbish by the pool, or at least a note explaining where to put it. The house is really noisy, so I’d recommend it if you’re coming without children. My brother is disabled and wasn’t as happy with the high stairs, which made the place impassable for him.
