We liked it so much that we changed our business trip plans to stay a second night. The room was warm, comfortable, and quiet, with a huge en-suite shower I’d love to have at home. Although the hotel sits on one of Surgeres’ main roads, hardly any traffic noise gets inside thanks to the traditional building. Benoit was attentive and speaks excellent English. The French style and decor also come with modern service, practical touches, and cleanliness.

Each room has its own character, and the place stays calm and never feels too crowded. There’s a real sense of stepping back in time, with a long history that the owner knows and preserves. It’s elegant without being pretentious, a genuine hidden gem. I can’t recommend it enough.

Benoit arranged a private family dinner for us, with an excellent menu at a very reasonable price. We also enjoyed the breakfast treats and his company. He’s an attentive host, and we loved our four nights at H. de Surgères. I have no hesitation recommending a stay.

The garden and swimming pool are a real bonus, and breakfast was very good too. Benoit was helpful, while the rooms have been renovated beautifully and decorated with taste. A great bed and breakfast, highly recommended.

We only had one night and wished we could have stayed longer. Benoit is a skilled cook and trained pastry chef, and the three-course dinner with wine was superb. Breakfast was excellent as well, and our room was fabulous.
