B&B HOTEL Bayonne Tarnos

A quiet, clean stop right on the route to Portugal, and it did the job for a restful night. The self check-in was the frustrating part. Using English, I completed the requested details and authorized payment, but the page never updated to confirm check-in or show the entrance code. I tried at least three times at different hours, with the same result. Switching the hotel webpage to French finally worked. It was hard to spot what was wrong, and arriving after 9 pm made it more stressful since nobody was still there to help.

A low-cost place for an overnight stop, much like a French Travelodge. We arrived after reception had shut and couldn't get into the car park because we had no gate code. Luckily, another car entered and we were able to follow it in.

The rooms were comfortable, the staff helpful, and there are several restaurants nearby, though some close after 9 pm. Parking is free and private, and there's a microwave in the shared area. Electric chargers are available, but I didn't use one, so check whether they cost extra. After 9 pm, you need a code to enter the parking area and rooms. They called me half an hour before leaving, which was a nice touch, but I'd call reception if you expect to arrive late. The price felt a little high, though it was July and the alternatives cost more or were less convenient. I'd stay again if I get the chance.

The room was spacious, but the bed was a small double, which is a poor size for two people. It was cold in the room, and when I asked the woman at the desk for a blanket, she refused. The heating shut off after a few hours and it got freezing. She was also extremely rude and arrogant, without a smile. There were only two small towels in the bathroom, and they smelled like urine. This B&B is hugely overrated. I won't come back, and I wouldn't stay at a B&B again.
