The man explained they’d been up since 6:30 am and hadn’t eaten, so I apologized and said I wouldn’t bother them. We’d arrived at 3:20 pm on a Saturday during school holidays for a hot drink, and the woman came up behind me and loudly announced they were closing. It’s a shame, the previous owners were much friendlier.
A lovely rural escape, with plenty of advice for walks nearby. The room and shared areas were really comfortable. The restaurant felt more rustic, but the portions were generous and the traditional food was great, especially the nettle soup.
The food was good once it finally arrived, though the dining room was nearly empty. We’d booked the day before because we wanted to try local produce while visiting the area, but on arrival the next day they’d completely forgotten us. There was no menu, and the only two dishes offered had nothing to do with local ingredients. The owner’s welcome had already been cold, almost icy, and the many flies and service that made us feel in the way only made us eager to leave.
We had a delicious evening meal made with fresh local products. The renovated rooms are comfortable and very well equipped, and the inn is really nice. We arrived on motorcycles and could leave the bikes safely in the barn. I’d highly recommend it.
The pumpkin soup and stew were simply delicious, and dinner was perfect. I stayed Monday night and was welcomed warmly. The dining room was pleasant, and everything was made from local products. It’s a superb little inn in a lovely spot with magnificent scenery. The next morning I woke to 6 cm of snow.
